Original Medicare includes Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Part B (Medical Insurance). You can join a separate Medicare drug plan to get Medicare drug coverage (Part D). You can use any doctor or hospital that takes Medicare, anywhere in the U.S.
Options under Medicare*
1.Part C (Medicare Advantage Plans) which includes Parts A, B and most the time Part D.
2. Part D are Stand alone prescription Drug programs
3. Supplement plans- Fills in the gaps of Medicare
Small Group Health Insurance
In most states, small-group health insurance is medical insurance purchased by businesses with 50 or fewer full-time equivalent employees, to provide health coverage for the employees and their families.
These Plans can be purchased on or off the exchange (Connect for Health Colorado)
The Affordable Care Act (ACA)
Makes affordable health insurance available to more people. The law provides consumers with subsidies (“premium tax credits”) that lower costs for households with incomes between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level (FPL).
Here in Colorado we have Connect for Health. This would be the only place to get tax credits to bring down a monthly Premium.
Life Insurance
Life insurance helps cover the end of life expenses. Sometimes Life Insurance is used as an investment vehicle.
There are 3 types of Life Insurance*:
- Term Life – This would be the best bang for your buck. Best way to describe Term Life is, you are renting life insurance for a certain amount of time. (Inheritance Focused)
- Whole Life – This Insurance will be a little more pricey and last your entire life – as long as you are paying your premium. There are several types of Whole life Policies – some are used as investments. (Inheritance focused)
- Final Expense – These policies are great for a smaller amount – $2000 to $75,000. Final Expense typically pays out faster and is focused on those final expense. (Cremation/Burial Focused)
